Description (Service) This record presents information on local refugee sponsorship groups in Simcoe County. 
Refugee Network Barrie (updated as of Dec 20, 2017) 
18 groups (including The Burton Group and The Grace United Church Group) are continuing to provide support to refugees. A Facebook page has been set up to co-ordinate their efforts. Bradford West Gwillimbury

Coldwater and Area Refugee Sponsorship Team (CARSTEAM) 
Predominantly faith-based congregations in Coldwater area applying for sponsorship of a refugee family through the BVOR program. Presbyterian Church in Canada is the SAH. Group includes local Presbyterian, United, Anglican congregations and individuals. Collingwood Syrian Family Sponsorship (as of Dec 20, 2017 this group is still active) 
Formal volunteer community group, associated with the United, Anglican Church and Presbyterian Church is sponsoring three families from Syria to Collingwood. Funds raised throughout the Collingwood community support these families for one year, in regard to their welcome to the community; their family budget; housing; transportation; education/schooling for their children; job opportunities; food; translation etc. Financial onations are still welcome and tax receipts can be provided. Out of a War Zone - Creemore/Mono (as of Jan 3, 2018 this group is no longer active) 
Formal group working with the Canadian Unitarian Council in order to sponsor a Syrian family.  
Georgian Bay Refugee Support Committee 
Group of individuals under support of St Mark's Anglican Lutheran Church in Midland formed in response the the Syrian refugee crisis and will be sponsoring a Syrian family. For more info or to donate Click Here.  
Innisfil Refugee Program As of Dec 20, 2017 this group is no longer in need of donations 
The United Church and Anglican Church of Cookstown, Churchill, Stroud, Lefroy and Thornton, joined together with the goal of sponsoring a refugee family of 5 individuals and have teamed up with the Anglican United Refugee Association to raise funds to sponsor a refugee family  
Mariposans for Refugees (M4R) - Orillia

Refugee Rescue South Simcoe 
A community group with members from all over South Simcoe working together to provide needed resources and collecting monetary donations to bring 2 Syrian Refugee families to the area. Financial donations may be made online Here or cheques may be made out to the Christian Reformed Church of Alliston, marked 'Rescue Refugee' in the memo field and mailed to 28 Downley Ave. Alliston ON.
